We have dreamt of working with Cafe Granja La Esperanza for a while after drinking many of their absolutely fantastic lots from other roasteries. This year it has happened, and we are super excited! We were lucky enough to purchase a fantastic lot from two of their farms. The Geisha here and then a Pink Bourbon from Potosi. Enjoy!

ABOUT THE FOUNDERS

Blanca Ligia Correa (mother) and Juan Antonio Herrera(father) married and had fourteen children. The couple were then later assigned to work and live at the Potosi farm. In 1945 Juan Antonio decided to introduce three different varieties to the existing Typica, and that is how he started a crop of Yellow Bourbon, Red Bourbon and Caturra. In 1945, Café Granja La Esperanza was born.

LAS MARGARITAS

Las Margaritas is home to the Field of Dreams and infamous varietals such as Sudan Rume, Pink Bourbon and CGLE17. Las Margaritas lies over a brook that runs through the whole farm. Las Margaritas falls through the many bamboo groves and lush green foliage that seems to pull the moisture down from the clouds that often cover the tops of the slopes. The buildings are blue and yellow, and under the watchful eye of Juan Carlos. He’s been in charge of upgrading the processing facilities on the farm and there is now a vertical demucilager to reduce water use, and a large silo that is sectioned in to 5 compartments internally to allow multiple fermentations at the same time.

Pacamara here has been recently renovated and is not yet back to full strength, but growing again. Fields were fully stumped to allow the plants to regrow. Pink Bourbon is being planted in some areas and the farm has had a lot of CGLE17 planted, the most recent Café Granja created hybrid to be released to the market. Las Margaritas is also home to the Field of Dreams, a place connecting invited visitors to the farm with the wider environment, and a real treat if you ever should go.

Only comes as wholebean.
