Our Daterra Masterpiece has finally arrived! This is our third year working with DRWakefield and Daterra through their auction to secure an exceptional one off snapshot in time from their Masterpieces Auction. Incomes this years cupping and auction, and well we knew we wanted to grab ourselves something similar in profile to the last two years if possible, and luckily we managed with the help of our friends at DRWakefield - even with a lot fewer Masterpieces being won here in the UK we managed to grab ourselves one!
Daterra are pushing the boundaries of Brazilian coffees and changing perspectives as they go. This lot is a Yellow Bourbon, prized for its high cup potential. Daterra have been experimenting with new varietals and also with processing methods through their Masterpieces farm project in order to create unique experiences. This lot is from Plot BV37 has undergone a 72 hour, natural anaerobic process with wild yeast.
The cup profile is intensely sweet and complex, if you had the pleasure of getting to try either of our Masterpieces the last two years, this follows in that vain. Another one that seems to really lean into a heavily sweet cup. The profile has us thinking of purple, with a mouthful of juicy and tart cherries upfront, background blackberry and blueberries add depth. A tropical sweetness and thick mouthfeel takes over in pineapple with lingering fruity chocolate notes to finish. A limited lot, and one you want to try.

This very small farm is a lab where they test new ways of producing coffee. The lab is rich with new and unusual varietals, processing methods, drying techniques and limitless experiments. Each coffee has a unique cup profile and scores 88+, is fully traceable, planted and grown with history and can never be replicated.
THE 2025 MASTERPIECES
Each year, Daterra selects the most remarkable lots born from their ongoing processing and varietal experiments and makes them available through this auction.
This year’s Masterpieces celebrate the folk culture of Brazil. The coffees are named after Brazilian colloquial expressions that capture universal feelings and experiences. Through these names, Daterra takes us on a journey, one that lives in childhood memories and deep-rooted customs.
