All here very excited to be making a return to Rwanda for our festive single origin. We had released a Rwanda for this multiple years in a row, but then due to climate shifts and shipping changes it was no longer possible. But we are back, Falcon pulled some logistical magic, and had some of the earlier lots booked and afloat ahead of normal! Incomes this fantastic classic washed Red Bourbon from Nyamasheke. The cup profile is one that keeps on giving and adding new dimensions on every sip, ripe apricots upfront, apples come in and lead into sweet and sour candied fruits peel, also links to a great chewy like medium body, with a lovely brown sugar sweetness throughout.

BIREMBO

Birembo is a coffee washing station in Macuba Sector, Nyamasheke District, Western Province, Rwanda. Established in 2013 and owned by C. Dorman Rwanda, the site sits at approximately 1,503 meters and is managed by Habinshuti Oreste.

The station serves about 503 registered smallholders growing Bourbon Arabica, with an average annual cherry intake of roughly 600 metric tons. Processing is fully washed with 12–15 hours of fermentation, using six fermentation tanks and 132 raised drying tables; peak seasonal staffing is around 70.

Listed certifications include UTZ, Rainforest Alliance, and C.A.F.E. Practices. Typical export volume is indicated at about 1,600 bags per season. Harvest in Rwanda’s Western Province generally begins in late February following the main dry season. Producer support and training in Nyamasheke are provided through C. Dorman Rwanda’s service delivery model, complemented by Rainforest Alliance training for certified producers.
